Ed Dowdy

Ed Dowdy serves as the President of the Panhandle Division of Excel Title Group, LLC. In addition to his responsibilities at the title company, Ed is an attorney at the Underwood Law Firm where he focuses much of his practice in the areas of Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Estate Planning, and general Business Law. Ed received his Juris Doctorate from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2009 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 2003.

While in Austin, Ed gained valuable legislative and business experience when working part-time for former State Senator Teel Bivins and Jones Lang LaSalle (formerly The Staubach Company). After graduating from U.T. in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business, Ed moved to Washington, D.C. to work for U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) as a legislative correspondent and legislative aide.  As a legislative aide, Ed conducted research and provided counsel and technical advice on a wide variety of policy issues ranging from agriculture and water issues to health care and energy policies.

Ed currently enjoys spending time with his wife Gina and their three children, as well as running, reading, and gardening.

Deborah Foster

Deborah began her career in the title industry over ten years ago with First American Title, now Excel Title Group. She spent five years building relationships with many realtors, builders and lenders in Amarillo and Canyon as the Sales Representative. In 2010, she was promoted to Escrow Officer and thoroughly enjoys being a closer. She has experience closing all types of transactions including residential, commercial, construction, refinance, and manufactured homes.

Deborah is proud to say she was born and raised in the area. She is a graduate of Canyon High School – where she first met her husband and married him 35 years later – and has an Associate Degree in Business Management from Amarillo College. She has three beautiful daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson whom she is very proud of. She is a football fan and her favorite teams to cheer for are the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Denver Broncos. She grew up mountain stream fishing in Colorado, which she still loves.

Amanda Sanders

Amanda started in the escrow world in 2013. She was promoted to Escrow Officer after working as an assistant for only six months. She immediately started learning her new role and obtained a great book of business in a short time. She encourages a smooth closing transaction with lots of laughs and kind words.

Amanda grew up in Amarillo, attended Amarillo High and Amarillo College. Her hobbies include whatever her three children Avery, Tripp, and Jax want to do. She enjoys weekends away snow skiing with her husband Brad, or attending Texas Tech football games in the fall. Her family spends a lot of time at Journey Church, where her husband is the Operations Pastor. Amanda has a strong love for the Lord and all He has done to help her to be successful at work and in her personal life.

Donnella Daniels

Donnella is no stranger to the title industry, having spent over 12 years in the business. Starting in 2007 as a receptionist, then Escrow Assistant and now Escrow Officer with Excel Title Group (FKA) First American Title. She started in the title business in 1994 working for American Land Title until 1998 as a receptionist.

Donnella was born in North Dakota and moved to Amarillo when she was 10 years old. She is a graduate of Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College. She has three children, Casey, Holden and Brandon in addition to two granddaughters, Emery and Brynlee. In her spare time Donnella enjoys reading and going to the gym to work out.

 

Marka Stephens

Marka Stephens

Although she is one of the newer additions to the talented Excel Title Group closing team, Escrow Officer Marka Stephens is no stranger to the real estate industry having spent 21 years as a licensed real estate agent in Texas. Her knowledge of the local real estate market serves her well – providing the opportunity to leverage long-standing and established relationships.

Born in Amarillo, Marka lived here until 1979. She returned in 1991 and has been very active in the community serving on several nonprofit boards. She has been an active member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for more than 20 years and currently serves on the Community Outreach Committee of the Amarillo Association of Realtors. She is the Past President of the Potter County Junior Livestock Association and has served several terms on the Potter County Appraisal Review Board.

 

Marka has two children, her daughter Sierra who is a graduate of West Texas A&M University with a degree in Agriculture Communications and her son, Sage, who is currently attending WTAMU.

Deb Brown

After three years as a real estate broker’s assistant, Deb made the decision to move to the title industry when she joined U.S. Title in St. Louis, MO in 1997. She was promoted to an Escrow Officer in 1998. She relocated to Amarillo, TX in 2002 and joined First American Title in 2002 as Commercial Assistant. She was promoted to Escrow Officer in 2003. At that time her duties also included assisting in abstracting. She has performed title only services since 2006.

Deb is originally from the Great State of Iowa and is an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She has been married to her husband Pat for over 25 years and they have one daughter, Cassie, who lives in Nebraska. She loves her dachshunds, Sadie and Mollie, and enjoys scrapbooking in her spare time.

Cleta Johnson

Cleta began her career in the title industry starting as an escrow assistant with First American Title in 2006. Her knowledge and experience working with Realtors and builders in the Amarillo/Canyon markets has contributed to the success of Excel Title Group in many ways.

A Texas Panhandle native, Cleta was born in Groom, Texas and raised in Clarendon and Pampa. She moved to Amarillo in 1993 and has one daughter, Terra. In her spare time she enjoys attending Terra’s sporting events, praise dancing at her church, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

Brandi Fernandes

Brandi Fernandes

Brandi is an experienced Escrow Assistant. Her title business career began in 2000 as a receptionist with American Land Title in Amarillo. She moved to the Dallas/Plano area in 2006 as an Interim Escrow Assistant and moved back to Amarillo in 2008 to rejoin the American Land Title team. Brandi’s love for her Realtor clients and other business associates is reflected in the way she has contributed to the growth of Excel Title Group in the Amarillo/Canyon, Texas markets.

Born and raised in Amarillo, Brandi is a graduate of Tascosa High School. She attended both Vernon Regional Junior College and West Texas A&M University. She and her husband, Karl, have two children, Addyson and Ansley. Brandi and Karl enjoy spending time with their super busy kids who both play competitive volleyball. Their favorite thing to do is vacationing in the mountains with friends and family.

Brad Stark

With over 40 years in real estate sales and finance, Brad brought a wealth of experience when he joined the Excel Title Group team in 2014 as the Business Development Coordinator. He enjoys establishing new business resources as well as leveraging contacts he made in the Amarillo and Canyon markets during his many years in the real estate business. He often organizes sales and educational meetings for Realtors and lenders.

Brad has two sons, Mitchell and Brooks and one grandson, Brixton. He has been professionally announcing sports and other events over the last 30 years and often travels each weekend with various television networks and promotion companies. He attended West Texas A&M University where he played football and ran track. After leaving WT he attended Texas A&M where he completed the graduate level Studies of Advanced Real Estate Subjects instruction through the Texas Real Estate Center. In his idle time he enjoys snow skiing, fly fishing, bouldering and hiking.

 

 

Carol Lawrence

Carol Lawrence

For 30+ years, Carol has been in the title industry, working for the same company, although it has changed owners twice. She began her career as an Escrow Assistant then was promoted to Escrow Officer and was a closer for 20 years. She was also an Administrative Assistant for a short period of time, which included some HR and bookkeeping. She is now a Title Examiner.

Early on Carol attended the basic and advanced sessions of the Texas Land Title Association. She also completed the requirements for and acquired a Texas Real Estate License, although she has never been a practicing Realtor. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from West Texas A&M University.

Carol has been married to her husband Curtis for over 36 years and they have two sons, Justin and Jarrod, two grandsons, Peyton and Ethan and a granddaughter, Aria. They enjoy spending time with family, attending their grandsons’ sporting events and weekend trips to see their granddaughter.

Barbara Hess

Barbara has been in the title industry for over 38 years. She started as an Assistant, moved into a Closer position and then into Title Policies/Auditor/Title Plant. She is currently a Title Examiner and loves every minute of it. She has always been a history buff, so this is a perfect fit. She has completed both basic and advance courses at the Texas Land Title Insurance School and had the privilege of completing Dale Carnegie Training.

Barbara has been married for over 36 years to her husband, Rodney and has one daughter, Bailey and a beautiful white German shepherd named Snow. Her family loves to hike or snowshoe through the mountains and one of their many memorable accomplishments was ascending Pikes Peak. They are also active with the Old Tascosa Cycling Club and have done several 100-mile rides and plan to add canoeing to their list of hobbies in the near future.

 

 

Carmen Mendez

Carmen Mendez

Carmen began her career performing administrative duties and making courthouse runs in 1998. She moved to indexing instruments later that same year and eventually moved into the commitment department. She began searching documents on a continual basis and was promoted to the position of Title Plant Supervisor in 2010.  Carmen has 18 years of experience in the title industry being employed by the same company the entire time.

When Carmen is away from work she enjoys spending as much time with her husband and son “lounging” around her home watching movies.

Michael Gonzales

Michael’s roots in the title industry are firmly planted as a result of his experience on many levels with Excel Title Group. He joined First American Title in 2003 as a courier and advanced quickly in the company moving up to a data entry position in the title plant. He also gained experience in the trenches with courthouse records searches and runs. In 2006 he was promoted to Escrow Assistant and spent eight years providing support to the Escrow Closing team and Realtor/Builder business sources. He now serves as an Abstractor for Excel Title in the Amarillo/Canyon markets and Texas Panhandle Counties. His 13 years of varied experience in the title industry are invaluable.

Michael and his wife, Debby, have a son and daughter – Anthony who is nine years old and Avarie who is five. He was born and raised in Amarillo and graduated from Caprock High School. He studied business at Amarillo College and is currently studying ministry. His faith serves and provides a vital part in the lives of the team at Excel Title Group. Michael leads by example and believes that when God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Jeanette Tice

Jeanette began working for First American Title, now Excel Title Group, in 2014 as an Escrow Receptionist. Her duties as the Front Office Supervisor for the Amarillo/Canyon offices include scheduling, purchasing and new escrow order and file origination.

Jeanette grew up in Hereford, Texas and moved to Amarillo 14 years ago. She graduated from Hereford High School. She has been married to her husband Gerald for 26 years and they have two children, Lauren who is 15 years old and Logan who is 12. They stay busy with travel for baseball and high school band. In their spare time the Tice family enjoys weekends away in the mountains and spending time together with friends.

Lexi Painter

Lexi began working with Excel Title Group in early 2016. She is everywhere making document runs all around the Amarillo and Canyon markets and is a friendly face, helping with receptionist duties. Though new to the title business, Lexi is learning all that she can and cannot wait to try her hand in more things in the future.

She enjoys spending time with her family, attending her two nephew’s sporting events, playing with her dog Frankie, reading, and watching movies.
